The Gore Windstopper fabric has been for years in outdoor apparel for outdoor enthusiasts who need protection from biting wind. Due to the demand from competitive athletes who required clothing that enhanced their performance in bad weather races, designers found ways to create a lighter, more breathable fabric with a water-repellent finish. The name X-Lite Plus was added to Gore Windstopper fabric. By using the Gore Windstopper X-Lite Plus fabric in the Gabba 3 Jacket, Castelli created the basis of a jacket that could be in windy, wet races. More was added into the design to make it a race-ready jacket. The elasticity of the fabric along with a silicone gripper at waist provided a jacket that fits close to body and stays in place. Nano flex fabric under arms added even more breathability and it stays close to the arm pit. At the rear, the storm-flap prevents the spray from ground water shooting off the bike wheel. Storm flap, long sleeves, high collar, water resistant fabric all work together to keep a rider dry and warm. Even the full length zipper has a wind flap. As a final touch, to make this jacket great for wearing in wet weather, the Gabba 3 has laser cut drain holes that have been seamed into the 3 rear pockets that store food, so that any rain that might gather there drains out.
